This versatile African safari takes us exploring both sides of the Kenya/Tanzania border. You’ll witness awesome herds of free-ranging elephants at Kenya’s
Amboseli National Park, framed by the spectacle of snow-capped Mt. Kilimanjaro not far off in Tanzania. We switch gears at Lake Manyara National Park where
the blue alkaline lake takes up most of this very pretty park, adorned with thousands of delightful pink flamingoes dressing the shorelines.
Get ready for safari as your driver guide arrives at your hotel, residence, airport, or another place of your choosing. Jump into
your private 4x4 Land Cruiser Jeep and we’ll take off driving through the savannah country, passing homesteads and Maasai herders tending to their cattle. We’ll
get to Amboseli Park in the late morning. Lunch is next at our accommodation and we’ll ready ourselves for the first of many game drives over the next six days.
Two big things you’ll notice at this park – one is the elephants, so many that you are guaranteed sightings.
The other is the towering form of majestic
Mt. Kilimanjaro, not far off, framing the south side of the park. Besides the great population of elephants, Amboseli will offer us sightings of other
wildlife like giraffe, zebra, lion, cheetah, ostrich, warthog, and lots of birdlife.
Toward evening, look toward Kilimanjaro – often the clouds obscuring
its snow-capped summit part revealing the splendid vision of the entire mountain, right to its peak.
Let’s relax and enjoy dinner and overnight at our luxurious Amboseli safari lodge.
We’re getting into the safari rhythm with an early rise to watch the morning sun light up the fields, hills, and marshes of the park.
We’ll take a pre-breakfast game drive as the wildlife slowly emerges into the new day.Breakfast will be at our accommodation and then we’re off to Tanzania.
We’ll stop for immigration at the border town of Namanga, before proceeding on to Lake Manyara Park. Our route takes us through Maasai country, and you
may see some of the herders tending to their flocks. A big, beautiful lake greets us at Manyara, and filling our field of view are the thousands of pink
flamingoes feeding on its algae. The sight of so much colorful avian life is a signature souvenir of Africa. Besides the lake, the park also offers a dreamy
landscape of acacia woods in which you may find the renowned Manyara tree-climbing lions. Look for them resting above in the tree branches.
We’ll spend the night here at your luxurious Manyara safari lodge or tented camp with dinner and talk of the day.
This is the perfect place to soak up the sunrise, the soft golden light illuminating this magical reserve. We’ll enjoy an early
game drive before setting out for the Serengeti. Soon we’ll come to the vast Serengeti plains, an astonishing expanse of endless land and wildlife. We’ll
take an afternoon game drive over this storied savannah, admiring the great populations of wildlife filling this immense space.
We will spend our night at our luxurious safari lodge.
Let’s rise with the Serengeti sun as the great fields come alive with spectacular herds of wildebeests and so much other wildlife.
It’s here that millions of wildebeest, zebra, gazelle, eland, topi and others breed and begin their Great Migration in search of taller grasses, water, and
the trek for their survival. It’s a phenomenal sight not seen elsewhere. Also, on the vast Serengeti – big cats like lions, leopards, and cheetahs thrive
in great numbers.
We’ll fill our minds and memories with scenes of Africa’s fantastic big game throughout the day and toward evening retreat to the comfort
of our Serengeti accommodation for dinner and rest.
We’ll grab some picnic lunches as we take a final game drive through the Serengeti. But now we are on our way to the Ngorongoro Crater.
On route, we’ll make a detour to the anthropological wonder of Oldupai Gorge. The site is a living fossilized record of early man’s tool-making and early
development and is not to be missed. As we come to the Ngorongoro Crater’s rim, let’s pause and take in the vast thriving world below us, an area of some
264 sq km (102 sq mi). Buckle up as we head down 600 m (1,968 ft) in our 4x4 Jeep coming to the crater’s floor, a living ecosystem alive with wildlife.
We’ll spend the day exploring the crater’s fields, lakes, and woods looking for its dense quantities of lions, cheetahs, elephants, rhinos, antelope, and
even monkeys and baboons. The diversity of wildlife is so great in this isolated world we may even see pink flamingoes at the crater’s Lake Magadi. Then,
toward late afternoon we’ll ascend back up the crater’s wall to catch a dazzling sunset at the rim.
We’ll head to our Ngorongoro accommodation for a final safari evening and dinner.
Let’s try to catch the sunrise at the crater’s rim – it’s certain to be dazzling. Then, after breakfast, we’ll depart for Arusha with a lunch stop along the way. We’ll bring you to your Arusha hotel or head back to Nairobi.
From the heights of Kilimanjaro to the depths of the Ngorongoro Crater, from the quiet beauty of Lake Manyara to the stirrings of lions and wildebeests at the Serengeti, we hope you have thrilled to our Africa – the awesome beauty of Kenya and Tanzania. Bushman Tours & Safaris thanks you for your interest in and love of our natural world.
